Dr. Tess Clifford is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Director of the Psychology Clinic at Queen's, a training clinic for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program at Queen's University. In this role she provides supervision to many psychologists-in-training and provides services to families in the Kingston community. Dr. Clifford has a special interest in working within a number of areas of psychology including neurodiversity, mental health and parenting. She looks forward to an interactive session discussing how the way we see challenging behaviour impacts our children, our own behaviour and parenting. She welcomes you to bring examples from your experience to discuss.

Join Bethany Smith, of UpSpring Kingston for this workshop and discussion. Being a new parent is really, really tough. Living in a culture of self-criticism makes it even harder. Learning self-compassion can help parents turn down the volume of their inner critic and strengthen their kind, compassionate inner voice. In this workshop we will go through the elements of self compassion: mindfulness, acknowledging imperfection as our common humanity and practicing self-kindness. We will discuss self-care strategies for busy parents and setting healthy boundaries.
